To increase the efficiency of Inventory Management on site, Wicksie has developed a number of Systems that provide added control and flexibility for operatives who regularly use MRO articles.  These developments recognise the need to create user-friendly systems where there is as little interaction as possible.

Business process articles fall fundamentally into three categories 'A', 'B' and 'C' where 'A' and 'B' are predominantly Production, Bill of Materials and Capital Articles and 'C' items are Maintenance, Repair and Operational (MRO) type products whose financial value is low and business added value is also low.

Wicksie Integrated Solutions' Inventory Management Systems enable the provision and management of inventory and other category 'c' items to be delivered directly onto Customer's production area at the Right Time, in the Right Quantity and of the Right Quality.

Bar-Code Scanner Units

To enable the smooth and efficient operation of a central or devolved stores operation, hand held data capture units can be employed to record the details of stock transactions.  At specific intervals the information stored on each unit will be transferred to a main location where the data is to be uploaded into our Supply Chain Management System.

Racking System

Kan Ban

Typically used in devolved stores or line side, KanBan's are component replenishment systems, which are normally either purpose built racking systems or storage cabinets designed by Wicksie.  Either will incorporate plastic bins or bags for each component.  The replenishment cycle is continuous and is entirely demand driven with sophisticated computer software, and the use of bar coding facilitating accurate bin replenishment. This system, devised by Toyota, and further designed by Wicksie ensures continuous stock availability on a wide range of products, whilst working with minimum stocks conveniently sited at point of use.  Each storage unit is mobile and accommodates line feed, block feed or cell feed in any manufacturing, assembly environment.  Management review information is provided for each individual station/cell/location.

Centralised KanBan's are component management systems that Wicksie take full responsibility for to assure the delivery of stock to a single supply point in the Customer's designated area.  This ensures that the supply point always contains sufficient components to maintain the smooth running of production cells. This is achieved by using coloured product storage bins, which are fully maintained by Wicksie operatives.

A 'Direct Line Feed' KanBan is a more sophisticated component management system that is therefore ideal for larger manufacturers who require to assign the management of the supply chain entirely to Wicksie.  This system is based on the principle that Wicksie ensure that components are delivered direct to the appropriate storage racks, located next to the production line.  These deliveries are guaranteed to be made at the right time, in the right quantity and to an assured quality standard.


Point Of Dispense

(POD) Tool Dispensers

Wicksie Integrated Solutions' POD helicoil vending machines are most effective in areas with high usage, high value and high shrinkage items for tracking and usage monitoring.  Once tool stocks are securely located within the POD, issues can only be made by the operator inserting their purchase card into the front mounted card-reader panel. The laser-scanner will verify the authority level of the operative at the POD, who will then select his/her requirements from a backlit product rangefinder below the control touch screen.

The transaction is tracked and held within the integral control programme and is subsequently downloaded daily to the appropriate Supply Centre for replenishment and accounting data.

The outcome of In-Depth Research and Development, Wicksie Integrated Solutions' POD helicoil vending machines are most effective in areas with high usage, high value and high shrinkage items for tracking and usage monitoring.

The user friendly POD will issue consumable tools to authorised personnel in possession of the purchase card, with the stock being held in the machine, having been identified as items needed in the immediate vicinity and stock levels calculated according to historical demand.

Tools issued will generally be supplied on a consigned stock basis within a broader Business Process Outsourcing Programme (BPOP) and as such, will be deemed to be a sale to the Customer at the point of issue from the dispenser, thus reducing the Customer stockholding.

Once tool stocks are securely located within the POD, issues can only be made by the operator inserting their purchase card into the front mounted card-reader panel. The operative will, via a matrix on the touch screen, request the tool, which is then dispensed into the cushioned tool-retrieving tray.

Secure Vertical Carousels

Our Vertical Carousels are ideally suited for issuing large numbers of articles, which are organised into a single secure compact unit, resulting in savings in both space and time.  The secure doors can be configured to open singly or in multiples to allow access to a wide range of tool sizes and types and the unique drawer system will dispense or even accept returns, whilst denying the possibility of access to unauthorised items or personnel. Issued items can be tracked by usage, with management reports available relating to department, job, machine etc.
